Kramer, Alice (Marriage - 12 Sept. 1942)
Miss Alice Kramer, daughter of Mrs. Edith Kramer, chose a gown of white velveray for her marriage to Walter G. Hopperdietzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hopperdietzel, of Athens. The ceremony took place in the rectory of St. Bernard’s church, Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10:00 o’clock in the morning. The Rev. C. D. Brady read the marriage vows.
Her costume was accented by two pieces of jewelry, a tiny, heart shaped gold locket, given her by her brother, Vernon, who is serving with the armed forces in Panama, and an heirloom gold bracelet, from her grand mother. The bridal veil fell from a crown of orange blossoms and lilies of the valley to the finger tips. Pink roses and carnations and white sweet peas were used in the bride’s bouquet.
Attending her were Miss Marie Carpenter, as maid of honor, and Mrs. Lester Banick, in yellow and pink marquisette dresses, respectively, with matching velvet head dresses. They wore wrist corsages of matching roses and white sweet peas.
Bob Lord, Cornell, and Lester Baneck, Hamburg, attended the groom.
The bride’s mother was attired in a black and white dotted crepe dress and the groom’s mother wore black crepe with gold nail heads. Both wore shoulder corsages of white and pink roses and sweet peas.
A 3:30 o’clock dinner was served to 50 guests at the armory club rooms, and a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother. Pink, yellow and white streamers and cut flowers were used in the home decorations. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Procknow’s ballroom.
The bride, who was graduated from the Abbotsford high school in 1940 and attended the vocational school at Wausau, has been employed by the Pope Brothers R.T.C. Co. previous to her marriage. Mr. Hopperdietzel, who graduated from the Athens high school in 1937, is employed at the Bowling Center at Wausau, where they will reside after Sept. 17, at 303 ½ Washington Ave.
Among the guests from away who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Art Le Claire and son, Phillip, of Rhinelander; Mrs. Wilfred Lord and daughter, Cornell; George Le Claire and Mrs. Lars Thompson, Neillsville; Dr. and Mrs. William Wojta, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fletcher, and family, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Smith and family; Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hopperdietzel, Hamburg; Mr. and Mrs. John Hoppperdietzel and daughter, Dorothy Mae, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. William Doering, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Maloney, Chippewa Falls; Milda Nimz, Dave Kinck, and Paul Nusbaum, Wausau; Miss Betty Kelsey, Madison and Mrs. L.
